Valencia’s Chemistry Olympiad team finishes second in Orange County tournament

Valencia High School’s Chemistry Olympiad team competed on Saturday, March 4, against 43 Orange County schools, and finished in second place. Senior Ben Nguyen had the top individual score countywide! The top 12 students in the county may advance to the national test on Saturday, April 22, and all of Valencia’s team qualified.

Unfortunately, national rules limit the number of students who may advance from any one school, so only three students will advance. No other Orange County school had more than two advance. The team consisted of Ben Nguyen, Naadir Jamal, Aayush Somani, Tera Gilham and Michael Huang. Ben, Naadir and Aayush will advance to the national round.

Congrats Tigers!
