El Dorado High School social science teacher Sunshine Cavalluzzi was a panelist at a KPCC arts integration event along with three other teachers (two from the Los Angeles Unified School District and one from the Hawthorne School District).
KPCC is a public radio station (89.3 FM) in southern California.
Arts integration mixes arts instruction with the teaching of other Common Core subjects. The method, which has been around for decades but has yet to become mainstream, teaches students multiple subjects at once: a history lesson centered around a famous composer, for example, as students study a piece of music.
The panel explored the ways in which the arts are used in teaching the Common Core. Click here for a video of the conversation, provided by KPCC.
