The weekend of May 12-13, the El Dorado High School’s (EDHS) ED LAW Academy freshmen had the opportunity to present some of their civic engagement efforts at the California Civic Learning Student Showcase. The Golden Hawk’s stated task was to “help strengthen civic learning practices for all schools in California by demonstrating examples of high quality civic learning conducted by students across the Southland.” The students decided to present their work in the form of a mock trial – The Case for Civic Engagement – with different students acting as witnesses and testifying about various projects and practices of our class. Students chose to focus on their C-SPAN Deliberations, Teens Can Change the World project, Love ELDO week and Veterans’ Assistance and Celebration efforts, and Peer Court participation. They were resoundingly commended by attendees for their excellence and passion for creating positive change. Great job, ED LAW!
