Fourth grade students in Mrs. Ayer’s class at Golden Elementary School recently studied barn owls and the important role they serve in helping farmers rid their property of rodents. At the end of the unit, the Eagles created beautiful painted paper owls on canvas thanks to the City of Placentia Cultural Arts Commission’s C.A.P.E.S. grant.
Using brayers, rollers, and scrapers, the students created brightly colored papers. The dry papers were then cut out by the students to resemble feathers. The students then used the idea of positive and negative space to create their owls. This will definitely be an art experience that they will never forget!
The school thanks Placentia for giving Golden students such a wonderful opportunity.
