On Thursday, October 17, Esperanza High School students wore red to show that they say “NO to Drugs.” In the spirit of Red Ribbon Week, the Aztec campus was decorated and all students that wore red received free pizza at lunch. This campaign always serves as an important reminder for kids to stay drug free.
The California Red Ribbon Week Campaign originated in 1985 when drug traffickers took the life of Federal Agent Enrique Camarena. The Red Ribbon became the symbol to reduce the demand for drugs, and the rallying point for millions of Americans to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug-Free America.
