On Friday, November 5, members from Valencia High School’s soccer teams joined with students from Ruby Drive Elementary School’s CASA after-school program. The group was led by Coach Gardner, Coach Ally, and the team Booster parent, Christine Hammond.
The team captains introduced themselves and shared a little about their soccer journeys before the clinic began. Coach Gardner and Coach Ally shared the importance of academics at Valencia High School and what it takes to be a scholarly athlete.
The VHS soccer team provided a one-on-one experience for Ruby Drive’s CASA students, practicing a variety of drills such as in-and-out of cones and shooting. They concluded the afternoon by playing a friendly match. All who participated in this enjoyable clinic had a fantastic afternoon!
The CASA Program is available to Ruby Drive students in third through sixth grade. It is designed to keep children safe in the after-school hours and provide them academic enrichment, homework centers, and tutoring as well as a range of recreational opportunities.
