In AP Environmental Science at Esperanza High School, students recently designed and constructed “wastewater treatment systems.” The goal was to create a sanitization treatment system for wastewater that effectively and efficiently removes the greatest amount of pollution from the contaminated water.
Students monitored their material costs, the rate of which the device processed polluted water, and how well it cleaned up the water. Then they were given opportunities to revise and improve their systems and test their clean water for improved pH, nitrates, as well as other factors. Great job, Aztecs!
