Each month, Topaz Elementary School, with the help of Homeless Liaison Jon Matson and community volunteers from the Yorba Linda Rotary Club, host a community food bank sponsored by Second Harvest Food Bank. The December event recently took place and was a huge success in time for the holiday season. Dozens of families are able to stock their kitchens with fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, and other non-perishables as a result.
Additionally, other resources are often provided at these events such as flu shots, health information, and gently used clothing and shoes. The Topaz and entire PYLUSD community is very grateful for the donations and the volunteers who ensure this event is a success each month.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Jon Matson at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Assessment Center at 714-986-7028.
