On Friday, November 11, Esperanza’s Vocal Ensemble, Bass Choir, and Vivace performed for the Anaheim Veterans Day Ceremony at the Anaheim Veterans Memorial. The combined choirs sang the National Anthem and a medley of the official songs from the five branches of the Armed Services.
Then on Wednesday, November 16, multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, and producer Ronnie Malley worked with all of the school’s quiors over Zoom. He presented information about musical traditions and techniques from the Middle East. Ronnie also taught the students a holiday song in an Egyptian dialect of Arabic that is well-known across the diverse cultural groups of the Middle East and Northern Africa.
In addition, Eli Stoyneva Krastev connected with two of the school’s choir classes over Zoom to teach them a traditional holiday song from Bulgaria. The Eastern European style of folk singing is very unique and distinct. Esperanza’s Winter Show, “Home for the Holidays”, is coming up on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Performing Arts Center at El Dorado. Please join us. EHS shares that it will be a great show with a live band featuring a wide array of musical genres and cultures in celebration of the holiday season!

I love the choir program at Esperanza. The students are learning not only so much about music but about the music from different cultures. Mr. Meyer is giving our students a great opportunity to experience the joy of music. I can not praise Mr. Meyer enough for all he is doing for the school’s music program and our students!!
