Sagar Shah, an 11th-grade student at Buena Vista Virtual Academy (BVVA), is making waves in both his academic and extracurricular pursuits. As a dual-enrolled student at Fullerton College, Sagar recently contributed to a significant victory in an engineering design competition organized by NASA.
The Applied Engineering Club at Fullerton College, of which Sagar is a part, secured first place at the 2024 NASA Minority Innovative New Designs for Space (MINDS) competition. The team’s innovative design outperformed those of several prestigious four-year institutions, including California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) and California State University, Fresno (FSU), among others.
Sagar’s journey at BVVA began in his freshman year, and his educational background includes attending Glenknoll, Fairmont, Golden, Kraemer Middle, and Valencia High schools concurrently. His diverse and robust educational experiences have laid a strong foundation for his current achievements.
Principal Jamie Jauch of BVVA speaks highly of Sagar, noting his exceptional talents and contributions to the school community. “Sagar is a multi-talented student who serves the Buena Vista school community as a member of SHAC and School Site Council. He plays the tabla, he is very involved with his temple, he is earning his AA degree and a high school diploma, and he gets involved in leadership opportunities that cause him to travel on a regular basis. We love having Sagar as a BVVA student because he is kind, creative, and humble. We are so proud of all of his accomplishments so far and know he will have many more exciting adventures and opportunities next year and in the future.”
Sagar Shah exemplifies the spirit of academic excellence and community involvement. His recent success at the NASA MINDS competition is a testament to his dedication, skill, and potential for future achievements.
