On Wednesday, November 6, Kraemer Middle School and Ruby Drive Elementary partnered once again to participate in “Read for the Record,” an event dedicated to bringing students together to spread . This initiative fosters a love of reading and builds a sense of community across generations.
Students from Kraemer’s PEER Leadership and GEAR UP classes enthusiastically joined Ruby Drive’s TK and 1st graders to read Piper Chen Sings. After sharing this engaging story, Kraemer students connected with their 1st grade reading buddies through a series of planned activities held in Ruby Drive’s multipurpose room. These interactive exercises reinforced key learning concepts from the 1st grade curriculum, enhancing the students’ reading experience with hands-on learning.
Both Ruby Drive and Kraemer Middle School hold the esteemed title of AVID National Demonstration Schools. AVID—Advancement Via Individual Determination—equips educators with effective strategies to accelerate student learning, preparing them for success in college, career, and beyond. Through collaborative and literacy-focused activities like Read for the Record, both schools exemplify highly engaging, impactful instructional practices.
