El Dorado High School Senior Honored as OCDE AVID Standout

On Wednesday, April 23, members of the El Dorado High School community gathered at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to celebrate senior Elizabeth Arellano, who was recognized as the school’s Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Senior Standout in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. Each year, one senior from each of the four high schools in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is selected for this distinction.

Elizabeth, known to her peers as Liz, was chosen unanimously by both classmates and faculty members for her exceptional leadership, tireless work ethic, and unwavering passion for learning. Her academic and personal achievements reflect the core values of the AVID program, which aims to close the opportunity gap and prepare all students for college readiness and success.

Accepted into all of her top-choice universities, Liz plans to major in political science as she pursues her long-term goal of serving as a United States senator.

The El Dorado High School community takes immense pride in Miss Arellano’s accomplishments and looks forward with great anticipation to her continued success beyond high school.
