In spring 2025, students from Kraemer Middle School, Ruby Drive Elementary, Tynes Elementary, and Morse Elementary participated in a historic collaboration by staging their first-ever joint theatrical production, The Wizard of Oz. This unprecedented initiative brought together young performers from across the four campuses, highlighting the artistic talents of students within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) and establishing a promising new tradition in the district’s arts programming.
The cast and crew demonstrated exceptional dedication throughout the rehearsal process, diligently refining choreography, memorizing lines, and embodying their characters with enthusiasm and skill. Their commitment culminated in two daytime performances attended by over 1,400 students—many of whom experienced live theater for the first time.
Evening performances attracted full audiences composed of families, staff, and community members, all gathered to support and celebrate the arts. The production served as a powerful example of the impact and potential of interschool collaboration, illustrating how collective efforts can yield extraordinary outcomes.
More than a performance, this event stood as a testament to creativity, cooperation, and community spirit. Following the success of this inaugural production, Kraemer Middle School and its feeder elementary schools intend to continue fostering opportunities for artistic expression, ensuring that the performing arts remain an integral and vibrant component of student life in the years ahead.
