Golden Elementary Hosts “Frightfully Fun Family Math Night” to Celebrate Learning Through Play

On Thursday, October 23, Golden Elementary School hosted its inaugural Frightfully Fun Family Math Night, an engaging evening that brought together students, families, and staff to celebrate the joy of mathematics. The event drew an impressive turnout as students from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade explored hands-on, Halloween-themed math activities across campus, each designed to reinforce the idea that math is not scary.

Throughout the evening, families collaborated on interactive challenges that included pumpkin patterns, spooky story problems, estimation games, and shape-building activities. Each classroom offered unique opportunities for students and their families to problem-solve, think critically, and apply mathematical concepts in creative ways. The festive theme and playful environment encouraged participation from learners of all ages and skill levels, while many activities were intentionally designed to be easily replicated at home to extend learning beyond the classroom.

Golden Elementary’s Frightfully Fun Family Math Night exemplified the school’s strong commitment to family engagement and partnership in education. The event highlighted the belief that meaningful collaboration between home and school fosters both academic achievement and a lifelong love of learning.

The school community expressed deep appreciation for the dedicated teachers and staff who transformed classrooms into immersive “math wonderlands,” as well as for the enthusiastic families who joined in the spirit of curiosity and fun. The evening served as a reminder that at Golden Elementary, community and learning go hand in hand, and when it comes to math, there’s nothing to fear!
