Van Buren Elementary Students Strengthen STEM Skills Through Hands-On Coding Exploration

At Van Buren Elementary School, STEM learning is an integral part of the student experience. This week, students in grades K–6 had the opportunity to apply their coding skills under the guidance of Computer Instructional Specialist, Ms. Taylor.

Students in grades K–2 explored foundational coding concepts using an off-screen coding mouse, developing their understanding of sequencing and problem-solving. Meanwhile, students in grades 3–6 advanced their skills by programming an on-screen robot named Dash. Through collaboration and creativity, students brought their robots to life using code, demonstrating both technical ability and teamwork.

The engaging hands-on activities reflected Van Buren Elementary’s commitment to fostering curiosity and innovation among its learners—truly inspiring the next generation of engineers and problem solvers.
