On Thursday, January 29, 2026, middle school Associated Student Body (ASB) leaders from across the district convened at the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House for an engaging and high-energy Leadership Day, facilitated by Leadership LAB.
Throughout the day, students participated in interactive activities designed to reflect real-world leadership challenges. Using a learning-by-doing instructional approach, Leadership LAB guided participants through team-based problem-solving tasks, structured reflection exercises, and collaborative discussions. These experiences encouraged students to test new strategies, analyze outcomes, and think critically about how effective leadership can foster positive change within their school communities.
“This Leadership Day is something our students look forward to every year because it gives them the opportunity to connect with peers from other schools and learn from one another,” shared Leina Howard, ASB Coordinator at Yorba Linda Middle School. “They leave with new ideas, increased confidence, and a sense of inspiration that we bring back to our planning efforts. The experience strengthens our ASB programs and supports students’ growth as leaders.”
The day concluded with student reflections and goal-setting activities, during which ASB leaders reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive and purposeful leadership. The event also highlighted the essential role of middle school ASB coordinators, whose ongoing guidance, mentorship, and support prepare students for leadership experiences such as this. Through their dedication, coordinators continue to amplify student voice, foster leadership development, and strengthen school culture by encouraging students to return to their campuses with fresh perspectives and actionable ideas.
