Esperanza High School proudly presented its annual Career Day for students on Wednesday, April 13. The event featured over 50 professionals representing a wide variety of fields who graciously volunteered their time to introduce and inspire students. Professions represented included medicine, law, sports, business, engineering, police and fire services, social work, construction, advertising, ministry, politics, education, and even the martial arts.
Students from all grade levels had the opportunity to rotate through the three presentations of their choosing. Over four years, students will have been exposed to 12 different speakers, potentially sparking an interest in their future career. Speakers shared information about their backgrounds, training, challenges and successes. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions.
Career Day was the result of a collaborative effort between teachers, students, staff, the PTSA and volunteers. EHS is thankful for everyone who contributed their time, input and effort for this event. Thanks to Karean Wrightson with First Team Real Estate (and proud mom of both an EHS freshman and an alumni) for her assistance connecting Esperanza to several speakers from some unique and interesting professions. Additionally, PTSA President Kristina Peterson reached out to many alumni who volunteered as guests from EHS through Facebook. Teacher Bonnie Culp hosted the morning meet-and-greet. Thanks also to Wise Guys Pizzeria for their generous contributions to the luncheon.
