Esperanza coach brings joy of wrestling to Bernardo Yorba students

Esperanza High School wrestling coach Christian Holiday brought his skills to Bernardo Yorba Middle School heading up one of their newest clubs. Once a week, students meet to learn fundamentals of the sport, and have the opportunity to practice with their peers. Wrestling Club has given many students the chance to be exposed to an extracurricular activity that was previously unavailable to them.

Starting in the spring of 2015, Wrestling Club has grown to include nearly 40 students, most of which are first timers to the sport. Seventh grader Mason Sadler said, “I like it because it gives me a chance to compete. We don’t get a chance to ‘rough house’ with our friends at school very often, and this is great.” Mason, along with many of his classmates, now plan on using the skills they’ve learned to pursue the sport in high school.
