On Saturday, Sept. 17, a carnival was held at Esperanza High School to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Muscle Walk of San Diego. The carnival raised $300, and the school ultimately donated a total of $500 (carnival funds plus donations) to MDA. MDA is a nonprofit organization that provides year-round awareness projects and financial support to help families pay for medical bills. They also sponsor the famous MDA Summer Camp. The Esperanza Hearts for MDA Club decided to combine with this organization to provide a direct outlet for students on campus to get involved in a positive way.
