Brookhaven Elementary School has had a fabulous start to the 2016-2017 school year! In the short time since school opened, they have already accomplished a great deal, and have come together as a school community in various ways. In September, students attended the first Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) pep rally where they reviewed the expectations that were modeled and taught during the first week of school. Students also cheered on the Brookhaven Bear and their peers in a tricycle race. They are currently casting their votes to name the Bear mascot. Students in second through sixth grades voted via Chromebooks, while Preppy K, kindergarten and first grade students voted on a paper ballot. Students and families also attended two community nights – “Bears in the Hawks Nest” at an El Dorado High School football game, and an annual PTA-hosted Family Movie Night screening of Zootopia on Friday, Oct. 7. Both events were well attended by Brookhaven families. Building school culture through extracurricular events is what makes Brookhaven so great!
