Golden’s 5th annual Family Science Night was “electric”

On Thursday, January 25, several classrooms at Golden Elementary School were transformed for a wonderful night of discovery as families explored.  STEM activities and challenges were run by Golden teachers, as well as Valencia High School’s (VHS) robotics, technology, chemistry, and physics teams. Volunteers from carious Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) middle and high Schools helped out, as well.

Some of the fun activities included robotics, stargazing with an astronomy presentation, electric circuits, straw rockets, and exploration of a real sheep heart. The sixth grade committee hosted a snack and bake sale complete with glow necklaces, delicious pies, coffee, and hot cocoa.

The school credits Kristi Cooan for coordinating the fun, educational event for Golden students, families, and community members. It was a huge success and students will be talking about it for weeks to come!
