Glenview Elementary School’s Dual Language Academy honored and celebrated kindergarten students for their progress and achievement in the pursuit of attaining mastery in two or more languages on Thursday, June 6 with a Biliteracy Awards Assembly led by teachers Sra. Susy Magana and Mrs. Rocio Sobschak.
As part of the pathway to certification and Seal of Biliteracy, earned during senior year of high school, the Orange County Department of Education recognizes this accomplishment with Pathways to Biliteracy Awards from kindergarten through 8th grade.
In order to qualify for these special awards, students met grade level benchmarks toward bilingualism and biliteracy set by the Department of Education. Glenview’s Kindergarten scholars were recognized for their academic efforts and participation and in 50/50 Dual Language Immersion and heritage program.
Principal Alondra Ramos shared, “I am extremely proud of outstanding accomplishments and hard work of the Dual Language students and teachers. Young kinder students led the awards assembly demonstrating their language skills in both Spanish and English, and performing musically for parents and families.”
