Valencia High School is proud to announce that nine seniors are among the top ½% of students in the nation to receive the honor of 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist. This includes Adila Ahmed, Rachel Bang, Andrea Chen, Hailey Choe, Justin Khou, Frank Kim, Nathan Kim, Stephen Min, and Janani Prabaharan.
Twenty four additional students scored in the top 5% in the nation and earned qualify scores for the 2020 National Merit Commended Student Program including Emily Beck, Catherine Campbell, Hunter Cheng, Keren Choi, Callista Gill, Daanesh Jamal, Jiwon Jeong, Himanshu Kaushik, Kalena Kwan, Brandon Kwon, Joyce Kwon, David Lee, Samuel Lee, Alycia Liem, Samuel Littrell, Aditya Mody, Pooja Patel, Mae Riley, Sophia Slankard, Nigam Vadecha, Ryan Wong, Anthony Woo, Jeonghoon Yoo, and Kathleen Yun.
In addition, three seniors earned qualifying scores for the National Hispanic Recognition Program –Jay Louie, Lex Marques, and Chris Romanes. The National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers in the nation. In addition to a qualifying PSAT score, students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year.
Lastly, four scholars also earned perfect SAT or ACT scores including Hailey Choe, Morgan Gee, Frank Kim, and Sophia Slankard. Way to go, Tigers!
