On January 7, Bernardo Yorba Middle School’s English Language Arts, Social Studies, ASB, and AVID students traveled to visit the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, The museum, otherwise known as LAMOTH, is the oldest Survivor-founded Holocaust museum in the United States.
Leading up to the trip, the Matadors had been studying the Diary of Anne Frank or related novels and literature. Others had also been working on the Chapman Holocaust Art and Writing Contest and were able to delve deeper into the understanding of this aspect of history. The students were able to tour the museum and meet Holocaust survivors during their visit.
This experience certainly made an impact on students and allowed them to connect at a different level with this time period. Such an opportunity as this keeps the school’s Matador Momentum in full force.
