On a Friday morning in February, families, teachers, and students gathered at Morse Elementary School to participate in the annual Jog-a-Thon. The event, which raised funds for PTA, was a resounding success, with students completing more than 2,000 laps around the track and raising over $19,000!
The jog-a-thon began with a warm-up led by Morse’s P.E. teacher, Mr. Chang, as students stretched out their legs and got ready to run! The real fun began as kids lined up and prepared to charge through VHS’s Tiger tunnel…then it was off to the races!
Throughout the event, students were encouraged to set goals and challenge themselves. Some students aimed to run the most laps, while others hoped to raise the most money. Many students were motivated by the chance to win prizes, which included sliming Principal Mrs. Kelly Farrell.
The success of the jog-a-thon was due in large part to the support of the school’s PTA. Volunteers helped with planning and setting up, and handing out water and snacks. Families also came together to support the school and its students, and did a fantastic job cheering the kids on, lap after lap.
With the support of their students, staff, and parents, Morse Elementary was able to raise a ton of money and enjoy a successful jog-a-thon!
