Kraemer Middle School gets a visit from former UFC fighter

UCF fighter at Kraemer.

On Monday, June 12, one of Kraemer Middle School’s Gear Up classes was visited by a special guest, Mr. Christian Aguilera. Mr. Aguilera is a former UFC fighter and the owner of JD’s Wingz, a local restaurant in Placentia.

Mr. Aguilera shared about his upbringing and the importance of surrounding yourself with positive influences. He was not only willing to talk about his victories, but also his defeats and how he made a commitment to learn and grow from them.  His overall message was the importance of setting goals for your life and staying resilient when things get tough.

Students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to interact with such a famous role model, who had taken the time to connect with them on a personal level. Gear Up is an elective class that offers academic and organizational assistance, social community building, opportunities for service, and weekly group counseling sessions that provide social and emotional learning/support.

“We want to thank Mr. Aguilera once again for taking the time to visit KMS!” Teacher Drew Putman shared.
