To kick off the new school year, El Camino Real High School recently hung a custom mural on campus. The “We Are One” mural was created by students in the school’s Design for Digital Print course. This project-based course helps students gain an understanding and develop hands-on professional skills in graphic communications and design, typography, and facets of digital printing in a real-world context. Students learn the creative and technical aspects of design layout and professional requirements in pre-production, production, and post-production. While not digital in nature, the mural represents the real-life application of the skills acquired in the class.
“For many of our students, including Ava Fiore and Angelica Garcia (pictured), working on this mural was their first experience in large-scale design and painting by hand,” Principal Scott Mazurier shared. “We are very proud of the wonderful work our students put into this project as they have beautified our campus with their stories.”
