Every year Dr. Beckman, a teacher at El Dorado High School, organizes events for the Italian exchange students within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. The reason for this is that Dr. Beckman also holds Italian citizenship and has a close bond with the Italian students. As a result, Dr. Beckman makes sure that the students form friendships and feel connected in the U.S., while simultaneously learning about American culture.
For the first event of the year, the six Italian exchange students from El Dorado and one from Valencia met at Luigi‘s d’Italia restaurant in Fullerton on Wednesday, September 6 to dine on the best Italian food in Orange County. Meeting at Luigi’s has become a tradition over the last three years for Italian students within PYLUSD. This is not just a time to eat but it is also an opportunity for these students to socialize, laugh, and bond as a group.
“It was an outstanding evening and the company was awesome,” Dr. Beckman shared. “Until next time, ciao for now!”
