Linda Vista Elementary School Champions Service Project to Support Well-Building Project

Linda Vista Elementary School Champions Global Citizenship with Successful Well-Building Project

At Linda Vista Elementary School, fifth-grader Cooper White initiated a fundraising campaign to construct a clean water well for children in Uganda. Collaborating with Hope4Kids International, Cooper proposed a community service project that garnered the enthusiastic support of the Linda Vista student council. The council designed posters and organized a “penny war” coin collection competition, encouraging each class to contribute during the third trimester.

The total cost of the well was $10,500. Cooper’s parents generously pledged to donate half of this amount if the students at Linda Vista could raise the other half. The goal was set at $5,250, but the students surpassed this, raising over $6,000.

In recognition of this achievement, the well will be named after Linda Vista Elementary School and will be situated in Bira East Cell in the Tororo district of eastern Uganda. This well will provide clean water to three villages and a community school with 635 students.

The student council and the entire Linda Vista community are incredibly proud of this remarkable accomplishment, which demonstrates their commitment to kindness and making a positive impact in the world. The Linda Vista Lions truly embody the spirit of community service and global citizenship. Way to go Lions!
