On Friday, Feb. 19, Tynes Elementary School students had the opportunity to install three hydroponic gardens on campus. Through a St. Jude Medical Foundation wellness grant, visitors from Living Justly Industries provided three presentations to Tynes second graders, fourth graders and the Community After School Academy (CASA) program. Students experienced hands-on learning at its finest. They learned about what hydroponic gardens are, and how to maintain them on campus.
For the next six weeks, students will be observing how lettuce grows in the towers, and will later harvest it to enjoy a salad with friends!
