Yorba Linda Middle School honored its AVID students this week with a special treat to recognize their academic accomplishments. Students who earned a 3.5 GPA or higher during the first quarter were rewarded with delicious cookies, part of a new tradition celebrating hard work and dedication to academic excellence.
The event, fittingly dubbed “Smart Cookies,” is all about recognizing students who have worked diligently and proven to show individual determination. Each “Smart Cookie” was acknowledged for their outstanding achievements and commitment to AVID’s core principles of WICOR: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, organization and Reading.
“This is our way of showing that hard work pays off,” said Mrs. Jack, AVID Coordinator at Yorba Linda Middle School. “We want our students to know their commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Students enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate with their peers, enjoy some well-earned treats, and feel proud of their hard-earned success. The school looks forward to seeing even more “Smart Cookies” in the quarters to come!
