Lakeview Elementary’s fifth-grade students recently participated in an enriching educational experience at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Science School, where they embarked on a two-night, three-day adventure from Monday, February 24 to Wednesday, February 26. This immersive trip combined academic exploration with outdoor activities, providing students with a unique opportunity for both learning and recreation.
During their stay, students engaged in a variety of outdoor activities, including archery, zip-lining, and navigating a low ropes course. These experiences were complemented by ecology hikes, which allowed students to deepen their understanding of natural ecosystems. Additionally, students engaged in hands-on STEM activities, such as building and launching bottle rockets, which offered them insight into the principles of vectors and trajectories.
As part of their scientific exploration, students participated in planetary walks, expanding their knowledge of the solar system and enhancing their appreciation for the vastness of the universe. The experience was concluded with a campfire session, where students performed skits and sang camp songs, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
The combination of academic enrichment, physical activity, and social interaction contributed to a memorable and transformative experience for the fifth-grade students at Irvine Ranch Outdoor Science School.
