On Wednesday, May 14, El Camino Real High School hosted its inaugural Family Night, welcoming approximately 80 students and family members to campus for an evening of community building and celebration. The event featured a complimentary BBQ dinner served by the school’s office staff, a diverse selection of games, and a designated space showcasing student work alongside a slideshow highlighting key moments and activities from the academic year.
A family engagement table provided attendees with information about opportunities to become more involved in school life, while representatives from the Family Resource Center (FRC) were present to inform families of the services and support available through the FRC.
The highlight of the evening was a series of three interactive sessions led by El Camino Real teachers. During these sessions, students and their family members engaged in hands-on activities including a collaborative painting project, bracelet making, ice cream preparation, guitar lessons, and a digital design activity in which participants created personalized internet memes. These sessions were designed to promote creativity, strengthen family bonds, and encourage collaboration between school staff and the broader school community.
Attendees of all ages—from toddlers to grandparents—participated enthusiastically and shared overwhelmingly positive feedback about the event. Additionally, numerous local community members contributed to the event’s success by donating gift cards and gift baskets, which were raffled off to attendees at the conclusion of the evening.
This event served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen home-school connections and celebrate the accomplishments of students and staff. El Camino Real High School looks forward to hosting future family engagement events during the 2025–2026 academic year.
