Parkview School Celebrates 2025 Graduation and Promotion Ceremony

On Monday, June 9, Parkview School hosted its 2025 graduation ceremony at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Performing Arts Center. The event marked a significant milestone for the 45 students who were awarded their high school diplomas.

Principal Dominique Polchow opened the ceremony with a warm welcome to those in attendance, including Parkview students, staff, families, and distinguished guests. Among the guests were Board President Marilyn Anderson, Vice President Carrie Buck, Interim Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Joan Velasco, Executive Director of Human Resources Nancy Blades, and Assistant Director of PYLUSD Athletics Dr. Taylor Holloway. The Parkview Performing Arts group set a patriotic tone with their rendition of the national anthem.

Principal Polchow addressed the audience, highlighting the unique opportunities that Parkview School provides.“Homeschool independent study isn’t just about textbooks or assignments. It’s about learning how to learn. You’ve developed time management, resilience, self-advocacy, and critical thinking. You’ve learned how to keep going even when no one else is watching. These are not only academic skills, they are life skills. They are strengths that will carry you forward in whatever you choose to pursue. Class of 2025, keep dreaming. Keep believing. And always remember, you didn’t just graduate. You grew, you adapted, and you achieved something truly extraordinary.”

A heartfelt speech from Valedictorian Elyse Proctor followed, resonating deeply with the audience of fellow graduates, family members, and faculty, and was met with enthusiastic applause.

Before receiving their diplomas, the graduating students were honored with several prestigious awards, including the Presidential Awards, the Seal of Biliteracy, Core Values Awards, Outstanding High School Senior recognition, and the PLUM Scholarship. These honors highlighted the academic and extracurricular accomplishments of the Class of 2025.

Board President Marilyn Anderson formally accepted the Parkview Class of 2025, affirming that each student had met all requirements to earn a high school diploma. She also delivered a heartwarming speech, acknowledging the graduates’ dedication and hard work. Notably, 66% of graduates plan to continue their education at a college or university, 11% will attend a trade school, and three students will join the military—testament to Parkview’s commitment to supporting diverse post-graduation pathways.

Parkview School, part of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, offers a K-12 homeschool program tailored to students seeking an alternative to traditional classroom instruction. The program utilizes a variety of instructional strategies—including independent study, online learning, concurrent classes, and workshops—to meet the diverse needs of its learners.
