El Dorado High School Students Earn Top Honors at High Tide Film Festival

On April 30, students from El Dorado High School were recognized for their outstanding filmmaking achievements at the 6th Annual High Tide Film Festival, hosted by the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.

Two student-produced films were selected for screening and received honors during the festival, which celebrates youth perspectives on ocean conservation, environmental stewardship, and coastal culture.

Senior filmmaker Crissa Winger earned an Honorable Mention in the Ocean Wildlife and the Environment Division for her film, One Piece of Plastic, which explores the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems.

In the Coastal Cultures and Traditions category, Shaped by the Coast, created by Julian Bautista, Daniel Cirata, and Jace Kilbarger, received the festival’s First Place Gold Award. In addition to top honors, the award included a $1,500 scholarship prize.

The recognition highlights the creativity, technical skill, and storytelling abilities of El Dorado High School’s student filmmakers, whose work engaged audiences while raising awareness of important environmental and cultural topics.

El Dorado High School congratulates Crissa, Julian, Daniel, and Jace on their accomplishments and for representing their school with excellence at this year’s High Tide Film Festival.
