In an Esperanza High School humanities class taught by Mr. Steve Nordwick, students are taking part in a nontraditional jack-o’-lantern project, which is the first step in understanding modern art. The class breaks down the components of the basic art form, and then replaces those elements to demonstrate a fresh take on a subject. The trick is to walk the line of establishing a new image without losing the association to the original art form.
