There were smiles all around as 25 Valencia High School English learners read to an energetic group of kindergartners at Ruby Drive Elementary School on Thursday, Dec. 15. Each VHS student read “The Spirit of Christmas” to three eager listeners in Mr. Pike’s and Mrs. Ybarra’s classes. The VHS accelerated class is a hybrid of AVID and English language development (ELD) strategies that prepares students for college readiness, as well as success in their communities and society.
