Students at Yorba Linda Middle School identified as “Future Engineers”

A few Yorba Linda Middle School students recently demonstrated good initiative and mathematical excellence! Mathcounts, teaming up with BAE Systems (aerospace company), provided a problem set each day from February 21-24, 2023, as part of their Engineering Week. Mr. William Lin, math teacher at YLMS, hosted about 70 students each day during the two lunches to work on the problem sets.

In the end, there were 156 submissions that were recognized in California as being perfectly written. Some students worked as individuals and some worked as a team. More than 20 of those entries with completely perfect responses are from students at YLMS, including the students below. They have been recognized on Mathcounts’ website as a “Future Engineer With Honors.”

Civil Engineering – Levi Alberto, Levi Calo, Lillian Orrick, Sophie Zhai, Ashley Lindbeck, and Joanna Chen

Mechanical Engineering – Ashley Lindbeck, Joanna Chen, Katie Thompson, Levi Alberto, Levi Calo, Lillian Orrick, Nate DeBree, Sophie Zhai, and William Bickham

Electrical Engineering – Andi Hoffman, Ashley Lindbeck, Grace Alberto, Ian Ko, Katie Thompson, Levi Alberto, Levi Calo, Lillian Orrick, Nate DeBree, Sophie Zhai, Vanessa Ligot, and William Bickham

Systems Engineer-Ian Ko, Levi Alberto, Levi Calo, Lillian Orrick, Selina Li, Shiven Patel, Vanessa Ligot, Grace Alberto, and Sophie Zhai

Way to go, Future Engineers!
