Buena Vista Virtual Academy (BVVA) held its 3rd annual graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 13, at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Performing Arts Center. In total, the school awarded 53 students their high school diplomas including six 11th graders as early graduates.
To begin the ceremony, Principal Jamie Jauch welcomed those in attendance including BVVA students, staff, families, and distinguished guests such as Board of Education President Shawn Youngblood, Clerk Todd Frazier, and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Assistant Superintendent David Giordano, and Principal Jamie Jauch.
Principal Jauch took time to share words of wisdom and praise with the school’s graduating seniors. “Congratulations on achieving this milestone in your life. May it be a reminder that you are a capable and worthwhile person,” she shared. “You can do hard things and you can overcome challenges. You are a success story. “Now go,” do what author Neil Gaiman advises, “and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes.” And be better off for having made them.”
BVVA student Tyler Lui then delivered a student address in front of a large crowd. President Youngblood then accepted the Buena Vista Virtual Academy Class of 2023 as having met all the necessary requirements in order to earn their high school diplomas.
Notably, Buena Vista’s Class of 2023 includes 16 students who earned the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma and two students who were awarded the State Seal of Biliteracy. Many are headed to two or four- year colleges following graduation.
Buena Vista Virtual Academy is an online school that offers free 100% online and hybrid programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. BVVA is a supported independent study school perfect for students who want to learn on their own in a nurturing environment.
Congrats, Wolves!
