In recognition of National Bullying Prevention initiatives, third-grade students in Mrs. Shipe’s class at Van Buren Elementary School engaged in an educational lesson focused on fostering a safe and respectful school environment. The lesson centered around the “3 R’s of Bullying”—Recognize, Report, and Refuse—equipping students with practical strategies to identify and respond to bullying behavior.
Through class discussions, students explored ways to advocate for themselves and support their peers. They then collaborated to generate ideas for promoting kindness across the campus, culminating in the creation of a “Kindness Chain” composed of encouraging messages. Additionally, students designed colorful posters to display outside their classroom, serving as daily reminders that kindness matters and that every student plays a vital role in creating a positive school community.
