Melrose students participate in “Why Mom Deserves a Diamond” contest

Melrose Elementary School fifth graders participated in “Why Mom Deserves a Diamond” contest, sponsored by Gallery of Diamonds jewelers. Students completed this activity through an English Language Development (ELD) lesson.

Amazingly, 52 writing entries were recognized, and students will be receiving either a loose amethyst or garnet stone for their mothers. Melrose is so proud of its great writers!

The contest was founded in 1993 by Diamond Mike Watson in honor of his birthmother and adoptive mother. Today, the contest honors all mothers, and helps prepare students for a lifetime of success by building their self-esteem.

To everyone who participated, you are all winners in taking the time to show your written appreciation for the one who helps instruct our footsteps in life.
