On Friday, Sept. 9, Glenknoll Elementary School held a special assembly in honor of Patriot Day. Boy Scout Troop 851 began the assembly by presenting the flag and leading students in the Pledge of Allegiance. Local police officers and firefighters were present as a few first graders shared why they are thankful for the first responders. It was an honor to thank the community’s everyday heroes while, at the same time, remembering the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, with a moment of silence.
