Rose Drive Elementary School kindergarten students were excited to begin their “Color Group” (mainstreaming) activities last week on Thursday, Oct. 8.
This center-based program incorporates kindergarten standards-based projects, strategies and practices, and allows students to rotate in groups of seven or eight among a total of nine centers over a nine-week period.
On any given Thursday from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., you will find approximately 70 general education and special day classes (SDC) kindergarten students partaking in hands-on learning led by one of our teachers or instructional aides. Lessons include healthy food choices, trees, leaves, Mat Man, painting, physical education and social skills, to name a few.
Mrs. Roger’s group of kindergartners learned about the various parts of trees, as well as their important functions. What a clever way to bring learning to life! Students and teachers alike look forward to participating in many more exciting group activities every week this year.
