On October 29, 2024, the OCSCS Dual Language Academy celebrated Día de los Muertos with a vibrant event showcasing the creative talents of both 7th and 8th grade students. Families came together to contribute to a beautifully crafted ofrenda (a traditional altar that honors deceased loved ones with photos, favorite foods, and meaningful mementos). As part of the dual language program, students engaged in in-depth studies of the elements of an ofrenda, learning about their significance and cultural roots. This heartfelt collaboration not only highlighted student work but also deepened community bonds as students and parents shared stories and memories, enriching our understanding of this important cultural celebration while reinforcing the values of bilingualism and cultural appreciation.
