Three Esperanza High School students have been nominated for North Orange County Regional Occupational Program’s (NOCROP) Career Education Foundation (CEF) Scholarships and will be recognized at the Celebration of Success on April 3. Senior Sam Ryan will be honored as the 2025 Robert Newman Hathaway Memorial Scholarship Award recipient. Junior Dylan Rodhers will receive the 2025 Carmen Lizarraga Scholarship Award. Senior Gavin Futterer has been named a finalist for PYLUSD’s CTE Student of the Year.
For over 50 years, the Celebration of Success has celebrated exceptional NOCROP students by awarding scholarships through CEF. Funds for these scholarships are raised through generous donations from business partners, civic organizations, nonprofits, NOCROP employees, and families committed to career education.
The CEF foundation was established in 1973 by John Dewey, who was the Director of Education Services at NOCROP, to recognize students excelling in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. Initially funded with $1,500 in seed money raised from rolls of copper wire discovered by construction students digging a pool filled with dirt and debris, the foundation has awarded over $1 million to outstanding career education students since its inception.
Many Orange County professionals, students, and proud parents will attend the award ceremony to celebrate the achievements of students across five partnership school districts. Congratulations to the Aztecs!
